Stop texting customers from your personal phone. Open Conversations to read and reply. Add Business phone when you want a local number for visit reminders, on-the-way texts, two-way replies, and a missed-call text back.
One inbox for the book
Visit texts, staff replies, missed-call text backs, and AI receptionist threads land in Conversations. Open a customer and you see the same history on their Messaging tab.

What texts actually send
Business phone is a hosted Twilio number we buy for your shop. After carrier approval, it sends the day-to-day texts that used to live on the owner’s cell — and the replies come back to the office inbox.
- Visit reminders the day before at 5pm (or morning-of for same-day adds)
- A text after you move a visit, if you choose to send one
- On the way when the previous stop is done, or crew taps On the way
- Optional arrived text when crew taps Start (off by default)
- Review-request texts after a paid completed job
- One missed-call text back so callers can reply instead of leaving a voicemail
- Optional voicemail on the same business number after a miss
- Two-way replies from Conversations and the customer Messaging tab
- Lead replies, plus a confirmation text after the AI receptionist saves a request
Business phone is optional
The inbox is on every plan. The $19/mo add-on buys a local number we host for you. You confirm your legal name, pick an area code, and we file the carrier registration. Calls can use the line right away. Live customer SMS waits on approval, often a few days. You can also connect your own Twilio.
How to set it up
We do not port your existing number. You keep the line customers already know, then either list the new texting number or forward unanswered calls to it — depending on whether you also use the AI receptionist.
- Add Business phone in Settings, confirm your legal name, pick a local number. Live customer texts wait on carrier approval, often a few days.
- Put this number on quotes, invoices, and your website as the number to text. Replies land in Conversations.
- If Business phone is your only add-on: forward unanswered calls from your advertised number here so missed callers get a text. Optional: ring your cell first, and turn on voicemail so they can still leave a message.
- If you also have the AI receptionist: forward voice to the receptionist, not here. Do not forward the same line to both.
- We do not port your existing number. Forward it, or list the new one.
Missed-call text back
When a caller hangs up, they get one text so they can reply. Optional voicemail on the same Business phone number — forwarding unanswered calls here skips your cell mailbox. The same caller is texted at most every 4 hours. Optional office cell can ring first. Separate from the AI receptionist number.

- Is Conversations included on Free?
- Yes. The inbox is on every plan. Sending live texts from a MowProHQ number requires the $19/mo Business phone add-on and carrier approval. You can also connect your own Twilio.
- What texts does Business phone send?
- Visit reminders, on-the-way and optional arrived updates, a text when you move a visit, review requests after a paid job, missed-call text back, two-way replies from Conversations, lead replies, and a confirmation after the AI receptionist saves a request.
- What is missed-call text back?
- If someone calls your hosted business number and you do not answer, they get one SMS so they can text instead. You can also turn on voicemail on that line. Both are included with Business phone.
- Is this the same number as the AI receptionist?
- No. Texts use the Business phone number. The receptionist is a separate $29/mo answering line so the two jobs do not fight over one DID.
- Do I have to change the number on my trucks or Google?
- No. We do not port your line. Put the new number on quotes and invoices as the number to text. If Business phone is your only add-on, you can also forward unanswered calls from your advertised number to it. If you use the AI receptionist, forward voice there instead.
